Important Recall Information – Child-Resistant Packaging for Iron-Containing Products

Last Revised: April 8, 2026

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

1. What is this recall about?

In partnership with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), we are voluntarily recalling certain lots of iron-containing products that do not have child-resistant packaging as required by CPSC. Child-resistant packaging on these types of products is intended to ensure that young children do not accidentally ingest an amount of the product that could cause iron poisoning.

In short, while the product formulation and iron content are safe when used as directed, we are conducting this recall to protect young children from the risk that they will get access to the products and ingest more than directed.

2. Have there been any reported incidents or injuries?

No. There have been no reported incidents or injuries.

3. Are there any issues with the product itself, or is the issue just with the packaging?

The only issue is with the packaging, and specifically, that the packaging is not child-resistant. There are no issues with the product formulation, ingredient quality, or anything else.

4. Which products are being recalled?

Please see the chart contained in CPSC’s recall press release for a list of affected products and lot codes. Listed products with listed lot codes without child-resistant packaging are being recalled.

The lot code can be found on the bottom or side of the package.

5. What should I do if I purchased the affected product?

Immediately store the product out of sight and reach of children and contact Vitaquest for information on how to obtain a free child-resistant replacement cap or storage pouch, depending on the product. You may contact us at:

– Phone (toll-free): 844-298-4545, 9:00 am-5:00 pm EST

– Email: productsafety@vitaquest.com

6. How can I tell whether the product already has a child-resistant cap?

If the product has a child-resistant cap, the top of the cap will have a graphic indicating to push down & turn. A non-child-resistant cap will not have a graphic on the top.

7. What if my product is packaged in a pouch (or multiple small pouches) as opposed to a bottle?

In that case, we will send you a free resealable child-resistant storage pouch to store the products. If your product is currently packaged in multiple small pouches, you will put all the small pouches inside the storage pouch.

8. Where were the affected products sold?

The affected product was distributed nationwide through:

– Retail stores

– Online retailers

– Medical practitioners

9. Is this recall required by the FDA?

No. This is not an FDA recall. This is a voluntary recall conducted in partnership with CPSC.
